Partnering with God in the adventure of life

Adventurer. Achiever. Believer.

My Story

When I graduated college, all my friends were going to work on Wall Street or at consulting firms in the major cities in the US. But something inside me was calling me to pursue something else. I applied and was excepted to a TV broadcast journalism program that sent me all the way across the world to Southeast Asia. I had never been there before and I knew not a soul. Gulp.

But it was in this foreign land that I met God. Everything in my life up until that point had been good, but I had this haunting feeling that I was living for the wrong things. Success, achievements, romance – it was what I was living for, but somehow I knew there was more to life. But what was it?

On my 23rd Birthday, I was waiting to have a video call with my family and I suddenly felt in the room a tangible  presence of God with the whispering words, “Come to Me.” It was then that I got on my knees, tears dripping down my cheeks, and said a short and simple prayer, “Okay Lord, I want to live for you. I believe you died for me on the cross Jesus so I could have.a relationship with God. I now want to turn from my own ways and trust in you alone to lead and guide my life. Please help me! Amen.”

Everything changed after that. I felt lighter. At peace. I suddenly had a sense of purpose of wanting to live for God and discover what His plans for me were. I was given a tender and compassionate heart towards others that was not there before. I became more generous with my material goods and my time. I began to read my Bible to know and understand more about God’s story of love for His people through sending His son Jesus to earth to live, die and resurrect. I began to detect an empowerment of His Spirit to help me know God’s wisdom, ways and truth in my daily life. And I had an increasing passion to share God’s love, reality and Truth to everyone I met.

That was nearly 20 years ago. Since then I have embraced a calling to vocational ministry and picked up a (lovely) husband along the way who shares that ministry calling. We have lived overseas for over 10 years, serving an international church in Southeast Asia. Our passion is to see hearts and homes transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, that they may shine His glory and radiance in this dark world.

I live out this passion as a mother of 4 children, homemaker, small group facilitator of expat women, leader of the Kingdom Women Fellowship at my church, writer, speaker, and certified coach. I love reading with my children, dark roast coffee, deep conversations and playing tennis.

That’s my story, and I am sticking to it…for now. )What’s yours? I hope I will have the opportunity to hear it in due time. Don’t hesitate to reach out and connect. It’s one click away!

Ali’s writing describes what many young women are going through in this day and age… Her realness grabbed me and drew me in as she opened up her heart in the hopes that other women might share the joy that she has found in trusting God in the every day.
